We are a local river cruise business that offers a variety of public and private cruise options throughout the boating season, usually from early June to early October. Our dock is located along the Choptank River in Denton, Maryland. Most cruises are two hours in length and our vessel, the Ellen B, has a guest capacity of 16 souls. We are handicap accessible.
For public tours, we offer special events like History on the Choptank, Lazy River, Maryland Style Father's Day, and public Captain's Feasts.
For private parties, you and up to 15 of your closest friends, family, colleagues, students, or employees can come aboard for any occasion. We offer bar and catering options, as well as a BYOF (bring your own food) package. You can pick from one of our pre-designed packages or build your own customized cruise. We can't wait to see you on the water!
River City Cruise Co. is owned by husband and wife team Katie and Allan Thomason. While Allan is our full-time Captain, our crew is always a combination of Katie and the five Thomason children: Kennedy, Ali, Will, Wes, and Parker. Generations of our family have called Caroline County home, and we are thrilled to share the beauty of our little corner of the world with others. We hope you leave feeling like part of our family too.
The Choptank River is the biggest river on the Eastern Shore, and our tours put you smack in the middle of it. We regularly see ospreys, bald eagles, cormorants, blue herons, kingfishers, and other species of birds, as well as flopping fish and the occasional resident Canadian goose. We travel North on the river towards Greensboro, which means as we travel the river gets narrower, quieter, and more serene. We also pass a historic railroad bridge, the most haunted jail in the state, and many interesting homes.
We exclusively serve locally sourced and prepared food as part of our catering offerings. All of our seafood comes from local watermen and the fresh produce is grown and sold by one of Caroline's many family farms. For restaurant caterers, we partner only with businesses who care as much as we do about supporting local. When you eat aboard the Ellen B, you can rest assured you are enjoying the best of what our community has to offer, we aren't called the Green Garden County for nothin'!
Whether you're local or just visiting, our river cruises are one of the few activities that are truly accessible to everyone. We've had guests from 9 months old to those in their 90s! We are wheelchair and walker accessible, we accommodate all dietary needs, and there is a little bit of something for everyone. Some come for the relaxing ride and fresh air, others for the history or natural scenery, and others to have a few of our famous Maryland orange crushes while we drive! You even get to play any music you like on our sound system. We strive to ensure every member of your party has fun.
